Meet Deborah
I've always been a Farmgirl! I lived in rural southern California my first 15 years.  My husband and I both prefer rural living and that took us from CA. to upstate New York and then finally to Oregon. When my parents decided to sell their farm in the Applegate Valley in 2004, my husband and I decided to buy it. My husband then told me to find a crop to grow on a section of property that was undeveloped. I had just read two current articles predicting the Applegate Valley could become the next Napa Valley, due to it's climate being very similar to Bordeaux, France. That lead me to consider what might compliment the incoming vineyards and Lavender was it. Once we decided on Lavender and started down the path, I often thought my Grandmere must have had something to do with our decision. She was born in St. Emilion, France, just outside of Bordeaux.
It has been an interesting journey and I have learned much since we attended the 2004 Sequim Lavender Festival and planted our first plants in 2005.
